8 things you need to know about the KitchenAid Mini

KitchenAid launched a mini version of their iconic stand mixer in Ireland this week.

Here are 8 things you need to know about it:

1. It’s just as powerful as the larger KitchenAid stand mixer

At the launch, I saw this little machine in action and was surprised by how much it can do. It has ten speeds so its perfect for all kinds of mixing, from stirring wet and dry cake ingredients, to kneading bread dough, to whipping cream.

2. It’s perfect for small kitchens

It’s 20% smaller than the larger KitchenAid stand mixer, which is great news for people like me. Now that I’m about to radically change my dwelling, I need appliances that are optimised for small kitchens.

With statistics showing that new-built homes are smaller than those built a decade ago, this mini is perfectly suited for those with less counter space or indeed for the increasing numbers of millennials, urban dweller’s and empty nesters who don’t always need to cook batches for an entire family.

3. It’s super quiet

At the launch, everyone couldn’t believe how quiet this little thing was. Even though the demonstrator had two Minis running at the same time, they were absent of the earth-shattering vibrations that seem to roar out of other mixers. So if you’re into late night baking, this hushed little baby won’t hold you back.

4. It’s light and easy to lift

It’s 25% lighter than the larger KitchenAid stand mixer. This makes it easy to store away in your cupboard.

5. Its good for 30+ cookies

The KitchenAid Mini is ideal for beginner or small-batch bakers. The 3.3 litre bowl can hold 1.8kg of cake batter, 800 grams of bread dough and 8 eggs. In other words, that mini mixing bowl has more than enough capacity for someone like me.

6. It will complement your kitchen

I was particularly pleased to see that it comes in four beautiful colours: matte black, matte grey, honey dew, and hot sauce. Why did this please me? Because the crazy, homewares-obsessed part of my brain needs to know that all of my kitchen accessories and appliances complement one another. I would choose the matte black because it goes with everything.

7. It comes with attachments

The KitchenAid Mini comes with a flat beater, a wire whip and a dough hook, which is the perfect starter pack. You can add more attachments to turn your mixer into a spiraliser, a juicer, a pasta maker and more.

8. You can only buy it at Harvey Norman

The KitchenAid mini is exclusively available in store and online at Harvey Norman for €549.
