6 interiors trends at Harvey Norman
I was at the launch of Harvey Norman’s Spring Summer 2018 collection yesterday and here’s what I’m seeing a lot of this season…1. Pinky peach
The interiors world is heavily focussed on grey right now but it’s predicted that we’ll move away from this base tone onto soft peaches and soothing pinks (lots of people are calling this shade of pink ‘millennial pink’). See how these tones are used as a backdrop in these photos…
2. Velvet
Velvet is still huge this year, carrying over from last winter. HN have introduced a new collection of floral digital prints on gorgeous velvet, feather-filled cushions.
3. Gold
The gold trend has been influenced by the resurgence of the arts and crafts movement – a movement that advocates a return to traditional methods of crafting.
4. Luxe
One of the directions interiors is moving in right now is toward richness and luxury statement pieces. This word ‘extra’ is being thrown around as urban slang meaning ‘excessive’, ‘dramatic’, or ‘too much’. What do you think of these – yay or nay?
5. Purple
Purple is already being used in advertising and pantone has named ‘Ultra Violet’ the colour of 2018. It’s regularly paired with green, a colour that has carried through from 2017.
6. Ceramic
Ceramic has been featuring in highs and lows over the last while but it’s really coming into its own in 2018. Harvey Norman have brought it to a dining table, which is unique. The modern finish makes for a functional and beautiful table.
More textures, tones and themes for summer
Harvey Norman also had a lot of glass throughout their new collection, especially in their tables and lamps. There was lots of wood and marble too. It’s a really full collection and definitely worth a look.
