Decorating my Christmas table

This year is the first time I am hosting Christmas and I simply cannot wait. This is how I’ve decided to dress the table…

Christmas Crackers by Lidl

I picked up these crackers in lidl. I didn’t like the gold foil ribbon so I removed it and replaced it with jute twine to make them more rustic. While the crackers were open, I stuffed each one with a scratch card! I don’t remember how much they cost but I think it was probably between €5-10 for a box of 12.

Table Runner by Lidl

I picked up the table runner for a few quid in Lidl about 2 weeks ago, I’m not sure if they still have them in stock.

Napkins by a randomer

I searched high and low for reasonably-priced, plain, crisp, white, 100% cotton napkins. All I found were polyester ones with old fashioned patterns. That was until I wandered in to a little family-run shop in Gorey, Co. Wexford (I don’t even know the name of the shop) and saw these for sale for €2.95 each.

Napkin Rings by Carraig Donn

I love these little metal leaf napkin rings. They were a bargain at €2.45 each in Carraig Donn.

Tumblers by Galway

These tumblers are part of Galway’s living range and I think they were €15 for a box of 6. They are half price in Carraig Donn.

Decanter by Galway

This stunning wine decanter is a much-loved engagement gift and is available for €39.95 in Carraig Donn or directly from Galway.

Wine glasses by IKEA

I did a lot of hunting for wine glasses that had this particular shape. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found exactly what I wanted in IKEA. They were so cheap that I bought loads of extras incase any break over the years.

Candles by Home Store & More

As soon as I heard that I was hosting Christmas, I knew I wanted gold dinner candles. You’d think they’d be easy to find but after searching high and low I have only seen them for sale in two places. In a random shop in Wicklow town and in Home Store & More. They are €1.99 for a pack of 4.

Candle holders by Home Focus

I have my heart set on a candelabra but because I am so fussy, I have not found the perfect one yet. So these are my interim candle holders. They were €2.55 each in Home Focus but I wouldn’t recommend them because when the candle melts down to the end, the glass breaks. Cheap, disposable – they’ll do for now.

Pine cones by Next

I’m obsessed with these spruce-scented pine cones by Next. They are also on display in a bowl in my living room and I’ve wired some to my fireplace garland.

Now all this table needs is the food…
